Teaching the viejos to speak a little ingles

Dinner time. It's Maria, my husband, me and my parents. We all hold hands.

"Gracias, Dios por todas las cosas ...'' I begin to say as Maria interrupts me.
"No, in English. They need to learn English,'' she says, nodding toward her abuelos.

this is so cute! I wonder if my little one will be saying this to me soon about her abuelitas....

Maria is a sharp young lady! and this shows kindness on her part too ... she does not want the abuelitos to be left out.
God Bless her ...

Carrie, maybe you can encourage Maria to do like "Dora" and in the presence of a group consisting of both Spanish and English speakers (we don't want to leave dad out), she can be in charge of saying things in both languages ...

I wish you well :) Melek

@viv, probably! It'll be interesting to see, for sure.

Melek, gracias. She is sharp and kind and believe me, I use Dora and Diego a lot to say to her: "Look, they speak Spanish and English just like you!''

That's sooo cute. My niece speaks Spanish but it has been a difficult task. My mother, however, still doesn't speak any English (after years of ESOL classes). Good luck with that and with the t-shirt line. :-)
